How To Dress For An Interview: Dress For Success

By Carl Mueller How to dress for an interview is a question that people often have when preparing for a job interview that they really want to win. The interview dress code is fairly straight forward especially for office or professional-type jobs. You really cant go wrong with wearing business attire. For a man, this means a business suit. Not a blazer and different color pants, a two-piece suit. Choose an appropriate and matching tie. You really cant go wrong with a good suit (think neutral or business colors like navy blue, black or dark gray). For a woman, this can also mean a business suit or perhaps other business attire ie. a tailored business outfit. Think conservative colors and also consider the time of year ie. you probably dont want to wear wool during the summer. It really depends on the position and company you are applying for but a lot of it is common sense. Dont forget your shoes either! Make sure your shoes are nicely shined and are clean. Nothing is worse than wearing a nice suit but forgetting whats below your ankles! That includes your socks, too. No white socks with dress shoes, guys! Finally, dont forget hygiene. Its best to avoid strong smelling cologne or perfume on the day of an interview. Men, dont forget to shave. At the end of the day, dress for success and use common sense. If you have trouble figuring out what to wear, ask someone you know who can offer correct advice. Your dress style is certainly somewhat dependent on your industry and level of position but you really cant go wrong with wearing business attire. Remember that its better to overdress than underdress. A business suit whether youre male or female is best for office/professional positions and helps to present a great first impression. Find Affordable Brand Name Perfume

By Morgan Hamilton There were only a few stores which carried brand name perfume. Most of the new perfumes were found in retail chains which have shops in your local shopping mall. Usually brand name perfumes were quite expensive and were never at discount prices, thus they were bought for special occasions such as holidays and birthdays. It is now different when it comes to buying an expensive brand name perfume. Nowadays you can purchase brand name perfumes at discount prices and there are also some options available to suit your personal tastes. All it takes to find almost any brand name perfume at a fraction of the retail giants’ prices is to conduct some Internet research. If you are looking for a brand name perfume you might check the local pharmacy, as many pharmaceutical stores offer brand name perfumes in their beauty sections. You can purchase your favourite fragrances for less money in pharmacies. You should keep in mind that the mall stores charge more money for brand name perfumes and other similar beauty products. The second place where you can find brand name perfumes at discount prices are retail giants like Wal-Mart. They often offer popular brand name perfumes for less money. Just as it is with pharmacies, perfumes are much cheaper in the shopping stores like Wal-Mart in comparison with the mall stores’ prices. Of course, when talking about purchasing products at discount prices, the best place to search for is the Internet. Hop online and you will find many great deals on discount. The great deals are fantastic but you should be aware that there are some potential drawbacks when you shop online. You will have to wait as shopping online for brand name perfumes dont give you instant gratification. You might save some money by shopping online but don’t forget that you will have to pay shipping costs. Another thing is that you should know what exactly you are looking for, because you cannot smell samples through the screen. What shopping online gives you is the opportunity to find additional perks not offered in many stores. Apart from that, many merchants offer free shipping for big orders. You can also get some free samples of designer fragrance by ordering from these sites. There are many people who enjoy shopping from home. They could miss the new products unless they explore the Internet for them. However, when you are purchasing brand name perfumes online don’t forget to ask for samples. And don’t get the saleswoman in the mall enchant you and make you buy overpriced designer fragrances. Morgan Hamilton offers expert advice and great tips regarding all aspects concerning beauty. Taking Alternative IBS Meds with Prescribed Meds?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=S_Reynolds] S Reynolds Alternative medicine and complementary therapy is becoming more and more popular among IBS sufferers in America. In fact, it is estimated that more than 40% of Americans who suffer from gastrointestinal disorders seek complementary and alternative medicines (CAM). The reason is because IBS can often be hard to treat with prescribed and over-the-counter medications. Furthermore, many medications cause negative side effects that in some cases actually make the condition worse. Alternative and complementary therapies are a holistic approach to treating IBS. These natural treatments typically involve proper diet management and stress reduction to help control, reduce and eliminate IBS symptoms. You should know, however, that there is a slight difference between alternative medicines and complimentary therapy. Alternative medicine is taken instead of traditional medical treatments (drugs), whereas complementary therapy is when an IBS sufferer uses both alternative medicine and traditional medicine as treatment. The following is a list of alternative medicines that are used as part of complimentary therapy: Herbal therapy The use of traditional Chinese medicines to treat IBS is a common alternative treatment. A combination of herbs may be used to treat IBS, or individual herbs may be prescribed to treat precise gastrointestinal symptoms. For instance, peppermint oil is used to reduce muscles spasms that can occur in the gastrointestinal tract which causes bloating and other uncomfortable symptoms. Other common herbs used include artichoke leaf extract and ginger. Diet IBS occurs in some people because one or more foods in their diet are aggravating the condition. A person can find out if certain foods in their diet are triggering attacks by keeping a food diary. For a few weeks a record is kept of everything they eat and the symptoms they experience after each meal. Eventually, an elimination diet can be created to help reduce symptoms. For instance, if an IBS suffer is prone to diarrhea, eliminating raw fruits and vegetables may help. On the contrary, someone who sufferers from constipation will benefit from a diet that is high in fiber. In addition to an elimination diet, dietary supplements such as probiotics are helpful to some IBS sufferers. Probiotics can assist in regulating digestion and overall improvement of the immune system. Hypnotherapy Some people believe that IBS symptoms can be related to a persons psyche. Hypnosis has been known to be an effective treatment for IBS sufferers as it helps them to relax and focus on soothing sensations and imagery related to their personal symptoms. The result has often been an overall improvement of health and wellbeing as well as, the IBS symptoms constipation, bloating and abdominal pain. Movement and meditation therapy Yoga and tai chi are the recommended therapies for treating IBS. These activities reduce stress and help symptoms of bloating, flatulence, diarrhea and abdominal pain. Other forms of alternative medicines include acupuncture and homeopathy. It is usually safe to try alternative treatments when on prescribed medication. However, you should speak to your healthcare professional about alternative medicines and complimentary therapy before you start trying different treatments. Your doctor will likely be able to provide you with useful information regarding alternative treatments, or refer you to a specialist. Keep in mind, that there is no evidence that suggests alternative medicine is better than traditional medication. This is likely because each IBS sufferer responds to different methods of treatment. Therefore, each case of IBS must be considered unique. After all, although one persons IBS may be triggered by the food they eat, anothers could be caused by the weather. Wedding Receptions - Beyond the Traditional

By Eugena Anthony You have begun planning your wedding and started thinking about what you want to do for the wedding reception. It is the norm to have a wedding reception on Saturday night with dinner, bouquet and garter tosses, cake cutting, and dancing. But you may want to have a different type of reception or choose to exclude or even add some elements depending on your tastes and budget. Instead of having a Saturday evening dinner reception you could do a Sunday afternoon brunch or luncheon reception. Just by changing the time of day and the day of the week on which you have your reception you can save a lot of money and still have the same type of event. You can still do all of the traditional elements like cutting the cake, tossing the garter and bouquet, but you would probably be having a lighter menu and less food than a regular reception. Since it’s the middle of the day your guests would probably be more understanding of not having a premium open bar, saving you even more money. What if you could have two receptions and save money? You might have a vision of a truly extravagant reception and it’s your dream reception but you cannot afford to invite 400 people to that kind of affair. Instead of totally neglecting the 200 people that are friends or acquaintances that you are not exactly close to but still want to invite to celebrate your marriage, you could do a separate less extravagant event. You could have an appetizer reception immediately following the ceremony in the church hall (or another inexpensive venue) for all of the guests that are invited to the ceremony. You would then be ale to mingle with those guests and they would get a chance to witness your union. Just make sure that you give your guests the correct reception cards so that the appropriate people attend each reception. If you are having a small wedding you could have the reception at a restaurant. Many restaurants have private rooms that you could rent for a small fee. You could have a menu of items that are within your budget from which your guests can choose to order. You might even decide to get a wedding cake to cut. Just because you are having your reception at a restaurant that does not mean that your guest will be paying. You should always pay for anything to which you invite guests. One of the most informal ideas is to have a dessert reception. You could have this type of reception at the home of the bride’s parents or at a friend’s home that is large enough to accommodate all of your guests. You could have wedding cake as well as pies, brownies, cookies, and other assorted desserts. You normally would not have any dancing or any of the other traditions typically found at a wedding reception at this kind of event. It’s basically just a time to fellowship after the ceremony and greet your guests. Now if you have an extensive budget and are looking to really add something to your reception you could book a venue with several rooms. You could have a room for appetizers and then a huge room for the main reception and dinner. You could also have various lounges set up for relaxing, conversation, or even games. The lounges would each have a different look and feel and be equipped with chairs and sofas. Another idea would be to have an after party. Some brides and groom want to enjoy as much time with their guests as possible instead of just running off to start the honeymoon. So you could rent out a club for those guests that want to dance and continue the party past the wedding reception. You could dance, play games and even do karaoke. Or maybe you could rent out a bowling alley or skating rink, it all depends on what the bride and groom enjoy most. So your wedding reception does not have to be typical you could go beyond the traditional. Eugena Anthony created A Wedding Reception to Remember to help you plan the wedding reception of your dreams. Where Have All the Disciples Gone?

By Brian Jones Five years ago my family and I started a new church in the suburbs of Philadelphia. When we arrived I wanted the first dollar our church spent to make a statement about the kind of church we were going to become. So I took every penny we had in our churchs checking account, which wasnt much, and blew it all in one day. I called the police station in our area and asked, Where is the most drug infested, crime-ridden neighborhood in our entire region? Without hesitation he named a neighborhood twenty-five minutes away. He said, We send a car there every night, why? I said, Im a Christian and I want to show people Gods love in a tangible way. I thought I would buy groceries for the entire neighborhood. Why the %!@+% would you want to do that? he said. I wouldnt go there without a gun. Knock yourself out. That afternoon I drove to a wholesale grocery outlet and filled every inch of my van with boxes of groceries. When I arrived you can just imagine what I saw. It looked like a scene from a war zone. Broken windows. Graffiti everywhere. Trash throughout the street. Cars on blocks. People passed out on the sidewalk. And here was this young suburban kid looking like Barney Fife with his arms full of pancake mix and peanut butter. To say I was petrified is an understatement. Okay God, I muttered as I knocked on the first door, work through me, your chicken. I was taken back by the response. For the next few hours I gave away groceries and prayed for a prostitute, a drug addict, a guard at the local penitentiary sleeping on the floor of his apartment, and a dozen or so others. These people had nothing. Zilch. As I moved slowly through the neighborhood I touched and hugged and prayed for as many people as I could. When I finally got in my empty van, instead of feeling a sense of joy, I recalled my conversation with the police officer and got angry. Why would that cop be surprised that a Christian would want to do this? I asked myself, Why is it that people have grown to expect so little out of Christians? That word, Christian, has become as tantalizing to an unbelieving world as drinking a warm soft drink at a summer picnic. The Problem With The Word Christian One of the problems with the word Christian is despite its wide use in our culture it is not a real popular term in the Bible. In fact, it only occurs three times in the entire New Testament. It never crossed Jesus lips. Paul never used it. In fact, on every occasion when it does occur the biblical author quotes a non-Christian who used it to describe followers of Jesus. Acts 11:26 tells us, The disciples were first called Christians at Antioch. By whom? The unbelievers in Antioch. Christian comes from the Greek word Christianos which means belonging to Christ. Not a bad word. But it was a nickname non-believers gave us, and for some reason it stuck. Another difficulty with the word Christian is our market-driven culture has taken it hostage. Rather than evoking hostility and persecution, as Jesus said might happen to his followers, Christian has become a corporate marketing niche. Christian offends no-one. In America we have Christian paraphernalia galore. We have Christian bookstores, Christian television stations, and Christian websites. Those who are curious can flip through a Christian bestseller, thumb through one of hundreds of Christian magazines, or sit back and enjoy a blockbuster Christian motion picture. One can quickly find Christian solutions for any and every problem a bewildered American faces. There are Christian exercise videos, Christian weight-loss programs, and now, much to our relief, Christian vitamins. But the biggest problem with the word Christian is it doesnt capture what a Christ follower does. I like titles that are behaviorally descriptive. A baseball player plays baseball. A stockbroker buys and sells company stock. A Christian tells us to whom we belong but not what we do. It isnt an action word. It doesnt carry an inherent job description or implied set of behavioral expectations. It communicates that we belong to Christ, a solid idea in and of itself, but one that has lost its edge in our culture. Disciple: A More Potent Word I want us to dust off an old, seemingly out of date and often misunderstood word. In my mind, replacing the word Christian with this word is a vital key to understanding what it means to be a Christ follower. What is it? Disciple. In fact, from now on, I want to challenge you to use the word disciple every time you are about to use the word Christian. Say both of them out loud. Im glad Im a Christian. Now try, Im glad I am a disciple. At first it is going to seem a little awkward. Your neighbors might think youve joined some strange chicken sacrificing cult. But thats precisely the point. Jim Jones and Charles Manson stole this word from us. Were stealing it back. Disciple occurs not three times, but over two hundred and sixty times throughout the pages of the New Testament. As philosopher Dallas Willard says, The New Testament is a book about disciples, by disciples, and for disciples of Jesus. Derived from the original Greek word mathetes, which means a learner or student, a disciple is someone that learns from a teacher. But according to Matthew 28:18-20, our mission on earth is not just to create Christ followers that learn his teachings, but ones that obey his teachings. Changed Vocabulary Changed Behavior So why use the word disciple instead of the word Christian? When we use the word Christian, we mistakenly give the impression that obeying Jesus teachings is something that can be put off until later, like dieting or changing the oil in the car. We tend to communicate, First you become a Christian, and after that you can work at becoming a disciple. Discipleship is treated sort of like honors courses in high school. Theyre not essential for graduation but a good thing to do if you so choose. According to Jesus, discipleship begins at conversion. Trusting Christ to forgive your sins and getting baptized are simply the first steps of a lifetime of discipleship. With the word disciple, life change is expected. Transformation is assumed from the beginning of ones spiritual journey. Sadly, our culture has caught on to the fact that when it comes to behavior, there is virtually no difference between the way Christians act and the way non-Christians act. Upon completing a poll for U.S. News and PBS Religion & Ethics Weekly, the researchers concluded, Evangelicalstheir distinctive faith asideare acting more and more like the rest of us. Should we be surprised? We are simply reaping what one author calls, the cost of non-discipleship. By far the most important reason we need to re-engage the word disciple is for our skeptical friends. When Christians become disciples we become the salt and light Jesus exhorted us to become. A few years ago I was driving in center city Philadelphia and got lost, which is a common occurrence for me. Without knowing it, I pulled onto a narrow one way road. Cars started barreling towards me. Horns were blaring. Cars were pulling out of my way. People motioned for me to go back the other way and said things I cant repeat. It reminded me of that bumper sticker, If you dont like the way I drive, stay off the sidewalk. Say what you want about my navigational ability, there wasnt a person on that street that (A) didnt know I was there and (B) which direction I was headed. Thats what happens when Christians become disciples. People notice disciples. Disciples do not blend in very easily. Disciples do not just believe differently, they behave differently. They stick out. They provoke. They cause people to think. They jar people to evaluate their lives, even without uttering a word. Disciples point people to the kingdom of God simply by their behavior alone. The result is people want what we have. Isnt this what Jesus intended? Weight Loss through Acupuncture, All the Facts

By Jean Lam Recently you might have noticed that there is a seemingly endless amount of products announced on TV and magazines that claim to be the best method when aiming to lose a few pounds. There are advertisements regarding diets, creams, exercising machines, even hypnosis and suggestion; however there is one method to do this that has not been advertised that much, and that many people claim to be the most outstanding and effective weight loss procedure, acupuncture. But, how much is true about whats being said about this method? Is it true that weight loss through acupuncture is really the best method available today? Acupuncture is by no means a recent discovery; it is actually a technique that has been around for centuries. In the past, acupuncture was used in several different healing procedures, and it is one of the only methods that has endured the passage of time, and one that continues to prove its efficiency throughout the world. The acupuncture method consist in placing needles strategically in different parts of the human body in order to stimulate certain nerves that will balance the body energy, and therefore alleviate different illnesses, both physical and mental. When talking about weight loss, acupuncture helps the patient by allowing him or her to burn calories faster; weight loss through acupuncture is great, because it provides the necessary energy to perform different exercise routines and it also accelerates the metabolism of the patient, which allows him or her to dispose the excessive amount of body fat in a very short period of time. One of the most attractive issues regarding weight loss through acupuncture is that this method works even if you are not really exercising your body. Given the fact that acupuncture accelerates your blood circulation, you will be burning fat even by sitting idly on your couch just watching your favorite TV show. However, weight loss through acupuncture requires discipline as well as any other method, you will have to endure the placing of needles throughout your body for at least 2 times a week. If you combine your weight loss through acupuncture process with a healthy diet and frequent exercise routines, it may take no longer than 6 months to reach your desired weight goal, which is, by far, one of the lowest amount of times available today. If you are planning to turn to acupuncture alone when trying to lose some weight, then you will have to be very patient, because weight loss through acupuncture alone may not be as fast as you wish. Facial Enhancements with Surgical Implants

By Ricardo Silva It goes without saying that the appearance of the human face plays a massive role in interactions between each of us. Implants offer an opportunity to put forth your best side. Facial Enhancements with Surgical Implants There are many definitions for plastic surgery. One of the more common is the correction or modification of abnormalities in the body. What exactly constitutes an abnormality is the subject of great debate, to wit, an actual abnormality or something a person subjectively does not care for in their appearance. Surgical implants used for facial enhancements definitely tend to fall within a more medically determined definition of plastic surgery. The implants are often used to address imperfections that are both subjectively perceived and physically present from a medical perspective. Seriously small chins and uneven or collapsed cheek bones are a common area of surgical intervention. Surgical solutions for facial defects are all about reshaping the face to a more traditional structure. The goal could be to increase the size of a chin to create linear balance from side views or to enhance one side of the face to create balance in appearance. Obviously, there are other situations as well. What is not disputed, however, is the emotional and psychological benefit of such enhancements when a serious defect exists. To reshape a facial area, plastic surgeons will often use implants. The implants can be preset or customized for the particular problem. For individuals with seriously reduced chins, for example, an implant is placed at the point of the chin to create volume and more natural look. The goal in the surgery is to create a more balanced face by moving enhancing the chin in such a way that a view from the side shows a generally uniform slope from forehead to chin. Facial surgery of this type is surprisingly uncomplicated for the patient. It is often done in less than two hours and hospitalization is rarely required. Generally, patients can return to work in a week and any indication of a surgical procedure can be gone as soon as two weeks after the fact. Obviously, each situation is different so consult with your medical professional to gain an understanding of your situation and the reasonable results that can be expected. Facial abnormalities, whether perceived or medically significant, can be the crux of confidence problems. If you fall within this classification, do not hesitate to contact a plastic surgeon to discuss the options available to you. Make sure to look at before and after pictures to get a definitive idea of the solutions available. Ricardo de Silva is with PlasticSurgeonPractices.com - a directory of plastic surgeons. Stand at Attention to Keep Chronic Tension Headaches Away

By Paul Bacho In order to get permanent relief from chronic tension headaches, you must do two things: get rid of tight and spasmed muscles in your neck, shoulders and upper back that cause chronic tension headaches by restricting blood flow to the back of your head and irritating nerve endings there correct your posture so that the tight and spasmed muscles don’t return This article deals with the second point. The best way to correct your posture is to simply pay attention to the way you sit and stand. Whenever you catch yourself slouching, assume the military posture. This posture has to be maintained the whole day, whether youre sitting, standing or walking. Why? Because the military posture doesnt overload the musculature. When youre in this posture, youre upright. Your shoulders are back. Your head is up and back. Your stomach is in and tight (your chest needs to be out a little bit, too). (Not sure if youre assuming this posture correctly? Then stand sideways to a full-length mirror. You should be able to draw a line from your ear through your shoulder, hip, knee, and finally through your ankle. This line should straight, with no curve at all ). By keeping your head up, shoulders back and stomach tight, youre taking all the pressure off of the muscles that have a tendency to fatigue and spasm - the muscles in the back of your neck and shoulders (particularly the trapezius). And when these muscles spasm, they become overloaded, which often results in a tension headache. When youre in a proper posture at work as a course of habit, these muscles wont be under any undue strain during the day. As a result, youll be able to sit, stand, walk and perform all of your daily activities free of pain. However, when youre first starting to incorporate the military posture, youll have to do a couple of simple stretches and exercises in order to get your body used to that proper positioning. My patients who have developed poor posture tell me that it hurts when they try to stand up straight and pull their shoulders back. Yes, it will hurt you, too - at first. There are several reasons for this pain: 1. Being stoop-shouldered with your head tilted forward all day (for many years, most likely!) has resulted in the adaptation of the musculature in your back to that position. By assuming a correct posture, youre now taking these muscles and forcing them to go in the opposite direction that theyre used to going. 2. These back muscles are longer than they should be because of your previously poor posture; theyve become stretched out. By practicing proper posture, youre now contracting them when you pull your shoulders back. This contraction causes pain. 3. The muscles themselves arent strong enough to hold your torso back. By having hunched over for so many years, youve been stretching those muscles. They havent had to work to keep you in an upright position. Now they do. 4. As you pull your shoulders back, youre going to be stretching out your chest muscles. This will cause pain in these muscles because theyre used to being in a shortened, contracted state. Allow me to explain this last point. There are two muscles in your chest, one big, one small. The big ones called pectorals major. The small ones under the big one and is called pectorals minor. Both of these muscles insert into and onto the shoulder joint. When you maintain a bent-over posture, as you might by working at a computer terminal all day, you tend to roll your shoulders in. The result: Your chest muscles shorten. At the same time, the muscles in your shoulders and upper back are being stretched and lengthened. So, as you leave your chest muscles in a shortened position for extended periods, those muscles adapt to that shortened position and become tighter. Heres an analogy. Lets say youve broken your arm and its in a sling for several weeks. Finally, your doctor removes the sling and tells you to move your arm. You cant! Of course, eventually you can, but youll most likely find that several weeks will pass before you have full range of motion. Thats because your arm has adapted to being in an abnormal position. Only diligent exercise will allow it to regain its former flexibility and strength. The same thing is true with your shoulder and chest muscles. As you stoop over, your shoulder muscles become stretched out, while the chest muscles shorten. However, when you assume the military posture, you shorten and strengthen your back, while at the same time you stretch and strengthen your chest. Paul Bacho is a certified athletic trainer in Cleveland, Ohio with over 28 years experience treating patients with chronic pain. Can Message Board Marketing Work For You?

By Lisa Packer One of the things that makes the Internet fun is all the message boards and forums. You can sound off about nearly anything, get and give advice, and even build a relationship or two. But message boards can be great for another reason: Theyre a free, effective place to market your business. You spend nothing but your time, but you make valuable connections with potential customers, and get your name out to members and guests alike. With a link to your website included in your signature, you also can generate traffic. And, if those links are visible to guests, and the forum is indexed by search engines, those links may be counted by the spiders and improve your ranking. Naturally, there are rules to follow if you want to effectively add forums to your marketing arsenal. First of all, choose wisely. Keeping up to date with forum happenings takes time, and you want to make the most of it. So be sure you are posting on message boards that are visited by your prospects. Youll also get the most benefit from boards that allow you to put a link to your website in your signature, and that make those signatures visible to guests as well as members. Your signature should contain a link to your site, as well as a tag line. Be careful not to be too pushy in your signature. A quiet link and your USP are more effective than a blatant ad. Nothing ruins a forum faster than a bunch of pushy, in-your-face ads trying to disguise themselves as posts. Make sure your posts are genuine additions to the conversation, not just commercials, or youll wind up doing yourself more harm than good. And you may even find yourself banned and your messages erased. Youll get more out of your message board involvement if you put more in. Ask and answer questions. Give helpful advice, without mentioning your business. Remember that your goal is to build relationships. The more good, quality free advice you can give in your area of expertise the better. Besides just being a good thing to do, it builds goodwill and positive exposure. Think of forums as an online version of a networking group. You dont want to be the guy in the polyester suit, pushing his way into everyones conversation, and irritating them with constant commercials. You do want to be the guy who leaves with a stack of business cards and several new relationships. If youve got the time, and can resist the temptation to be pushy, message board marketing may be just the boost your business is looking for. Does your marketing forge an emotional connection with your prospects? It can.
